According to information from the city hall, the mayor ordered the immediate resumption of road works and ensured that asphalt would be laid within the established deadlines.
In his directives, Janarbek Akayev noted:
- the continuation of all major infrastructure projects in the southern capital, despite delays in funding;
- the dismantling of objects that illegally obstruct road construction;
- the expansion of sidewalks to ensure pedestrian safety.
He emphasized that the suspension of work harms the interests of local residents.
“I was appointed to the position just a week ago, and during this time I have been observing the halt in work. We cannot leave a started project unfinished. Even if we have to use our own resources, we must complete it. This is extremely important for improving the transportation situation,” said the mayor of Osh.
He also noted that, thanks to the support of the president, the city received the necessary equipment from a special fund, which will help speed up the construction process and resolve the issue of prolonged repairs.
Janarbek Akayev added that negotiations with homeowners who may be subject to demolition will continue, but “none of the ongoing projects will be stopped.”
