In 2025, 60,000 enforcement orders for alimony cases were registered.
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, it was reported that 1200 people in the country are evading alimony payments. This information became known during the discussion of a new draft law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic."
Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova raised the issue, noting that women seeking alimony or other legal rights sometimes face intimidation and violence from men.
She asked Deputy Attorney General Umutkan Konkubaeva whether it is possible to establish alimony amounts simultaneously with the divorce decision.
Umutkan Konkubaeva explained that the previous composition of deputies made changes to the legislation, transferring the authority to issue alimony orders from the courts to a notarial mechanism.
“Previously, the court could automatically issue decisions on the collection of alimony; however, if the father of the child did not agree with the amount, the court had to cancel its decision,” she emphasized.
The Deputy Attorney General added that in all cases where there is a dispute, a full court hearing should be conducted.
Deputy Yrysbek Atazhanov inquired about the number of citizens evading alimony in the country.
Umutkan Konkubaeva replied that in 2025, 60,000 enforcement orders were submitted, of which 1200 people are not fulfilling their alimony obligations.
