Ministry of Internal Affairs: Within two years we will install video surveillance throughout Kyrgyzstan

"First 6 thousand cameras, then 20 thousand, and then more"

On February 26, during a parliamentary session, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev announced plans to install video surveillance across the entire territory of Kyrgyzstan within two years.

In response to questions from deputies about measures to enhance public safety, Ashirkhodzhaev spoke about current initiatives.

According to him, as part of the "Safe City" and "Safe Country" programs, cameras are already operational in the country. "We will start by installing 6 thousand cameras, then we will add another 20 thousand. Complete video surveillance will be organized within 1-2 years," he noted.

Deputy Burul Amanova suggested that in areas where video surveillance is absent, the number of patrols should be increased, especially in public transport, shopping centers, and places with large gatherings of people.
