According to ecologist Gamal Soronkulov, researchers captured an Indian porcupine (Hystrix indica) using camera traps. "Previously, we had seen its tracks, but this time the porcupine was caught on camera. It noticed the camera and, getting too close, knocked it over, but managed to take a few pictures," he said.
In the area around the porcupine's burrow, sunbathing spots, quills, and remnants of its food were discovered. This species is considered one of the rare animals in Kyrgyzstan and is protected by the state in accordance with the Red Book of the republic," he concluded.
