At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 25, Primov expressed his concern about the decreasing volume of the lake. He noted that the shoreline is constantly changing, and the lake is losing its water mass.

“If urgent measures are not taken, Kyrgyzstan may face a serious ecological disaster. Previously, about 80 rivers flowed into Issyk-Kul, but now their number has decreased to 30. This issue requires our careful consideration. I propose to establish a special body or department that will address the conservation of Issyk-Kul, as well as interact with international donors to attract funding and develop effective measures,” he added.
