The Mayor of Osh Conducted a Raid Against Street Trading and Demanded "Iron Order"
According to the press service of the mayor's office, the city leader noted the necessity of creating modern conditions for trade, while entrepreneurs must conduct their activities exclusively in designated areas.
Akaev also highlighted that the responsibility for maintaining order lies with the heads and their deputies, while the staff of the municipal inspection, police, and other relevant departments of the mayor's office will monitor the situation "daily, hourly."
During the raid, he spoke with traders, expressing understanding of their difficulties, but noted that the city "must operate according to the rules." According to him, if an exception is made for one seller now, dozens of others will come in their place, leading to a recurrence of disorder.
The mayor insisted that all those wishing to engage in trade should go to the new market in Osh, where their management needs to provide available spaces and conclude official contracts with entrepreneurs. "Street trading is unacceptable. If you want to work — go to the market, sign a contract, and get your spot," said Janarbek Akaev.
Additionally, he instructed the staff of the mayor's office and police to monitor the operations of auto services, oil change points, markets, and kiosks that were previously closed for violations, to ensure they do not resume activities without the appropriate permits.
Akaev also warned that if the directives are not followed, the heads of the departments will be held accountable the very next day. He stressed that there must be "iron order" in the city, and the work that has begun must be completed.
