She also added that the end of the school year is now set for May 29, instead of the usual date of May 25.
“The Ministry has taken into account your requests regarding the insufficient length of the spring break.
We have decided to extend the vacation period from March 2 to March 7, adding four days to the original schedule.These additional days will be compensated in May to fulfill the educational plan. Thus, the school year will conclude on May 29,” the minister noted.
Earlier, the Ministry of Education approved a new curriculum that stipulated that students would have only one day off — March 6 (Friday) — instead of the traditional week. This decision caused dissatisfaction among parents, as after a challenging third quarter, students would only get three days of rest, including the weekend.
In May, students will have a break from May 1 to May 11, after which the school year will end. This distribution of breaks was explained by the new Labor Code, according to which Kyrgyz citizens enjoy long weekends in January and May, which has drawn criticism from the parent community.
