The Department of Chemicalization and Plant Protection of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced a tender for the purchase of insecticides aimed at combating pests, including locusts and the American white moth.

According to information posted on the state procurement portal, a sum of 27 million 289.6 thousand soms has been allocated for these purposes.

The acceptance of proposals from suppliers will last until March 10.

Deliveries are to be made to the village of Kozhomkul, located in the Chui region, within 20 days from the date of signing the contract.

The American white moth poses a serious threat to more than 250 species of woody and shrub plants. This pest was first recorded in the territory of the republic in 2006. Among its preferred plants are mulberry, apple, pear, plum, quince, cherry, elderberry, and walnut. The caterpillars of this insect are known for their high voracity: with 8-10 egg clutches on a medium-sized tree, they can completely destroy the foliage. As a result, at best, the trees lose their crowns, and at worst, their harvest as well.
