An exhibition dedicated to the works of photographer Alimzhan Zhorobaev will take place in Bishkek.

In this series of photographs, the disappearance of Soviet symbols from everyday life is captured: monuments, bas-reliefs, slogans, and interior elements. These images of the past, which have become artifacts, reflect the damaged, forgotten, or reinterpreted aspects of our history. It is a kind of visual archaeology.

Modern symbols of independent Kyrgyzstan, such as the flag, national ornaments, and rituals, are becoming part of the everyday visual language. Tradition is not just being restored but is actively integrated into modernity.

The author's works are executed in a classic documentary manner: using natural light and an observational position, with minimal interference in the process. In his photographs, color and black-and-white images coexist, representing different temporal registers.

Compositions are built on visual rhymes: the interaction of windows and faces, walls and bodies, objects and symbols. Recurring motifs create the effect of a visual poem about time and place.

The photographs of Alimzhan Zhorobaev present Kyrgyzstan as a space of memory, hope, loss, and renewal, as well as tradition and change.

The exhibition will be open until March 11.
