"Zhubaylar": Turgunbek and Elmira met under the shade of the now-cut willows and have been together for almost four decades
They began their story in 1986 when they met in Frunze.
Since then, 36 years have passed, and they have a son and a daughter, as well as three grandchildren.
Elmira was born on March 16, 1966, in the village of Barskoon in the Jeti-Oguz district of the Issyk-Kul region, while Turgunbek was born in the village of Manas in the Talas region in the same year.
“We met at the Central Department Store, where willows grew. This place was popular among the youth, and it was there that I saw my future husband, who had just returned from the army. We liked each other and started dating. We spent five years together, studying and working in Frunze. At 25, we got married and started a family. Our daughter was born in 1992 and our son in 2004. Our daughter is married and has three children, while our son studies and works in America,” Elmira said.
The couple owns a farm in the Sokuluk district and is engaged in improving the quality of their dairy cows.
“I am happy in my marriage with a person who understands me. Over these 36 years, we have faced many challenges, but we have always supported each other. Our love and harmony have helped us overcome all difficulties.
I want to tell the youth that they need to learn and work hard, striving for true love. If the spouses have real feelings, they will always support each other,” she added.
The couple is making plans for the future, but their main hope right now is the return of their son from America and his successful marriage.
“We would like to celebrate a big wedding and welcome a daughter-in-law into our family,” Elmira concluded.
