Where they live, what jobs they have, and when they marry: interesting facts about men in Kyrgyzstan
Two-thirds of men live in rural areas, and one in seven of them is a resident of the capital — Bishkek.
According to statistics from 2024, the employment rate of working-age men exceeds 77%. The average age of workers is 39 years, with the most common age group among the employed being 35-39 years, accounting for one in seven workers.
The majority of men work in key sectors of the economy, such as construction, transportation, mineral resource extraction, and energy (including electricity, gas, and air conditioning).
In 2024, 45,000 men got married. The majority of newlyweds belong to the age group of 20-29 years, with the average age for entering the first marriage being 27.6 years, and for a second marriage — 39.6 years.
In government bodies, men also constitute a significant majority: their share in state institutions is 55.4%, and in local self-government bodies — 62.3%.
