The main goal of this event was to preserve linguistic diversity and promote multilingual culture.
The celebration was attended by the Deputy Mayor Manas Abdykalykov, the head of the city’s education department Gülnazira Kyrgyzbay kyzy, as well as school directors, students, and residents of the city.
The purpose of the event was to develop a culture of multilingualism, to foster artistic reading skills and creative abilities among children and teenagers, as well as to strengthen tolerance towards the languages and cultures of different peoples and support initiatives related to the native language.
In honor of the International Mother Language Day, online competitions were organized at the city level in several categories:
- For kindergartens — “Beshik ыры — uluttun bashaty” (“Lullaby — the source of the nation”);
- For primary school grades (1–4) — “Ene til — jürök til” (“Native language — the language of the heart”);
- For senior grades (5–11) — “Ar türdüü uluttardagy birimdik” (“Unity of different nations”);
- For city residents and heads of institutions — an essay competition of 2–3 pages titled “Til bilseñ, dil bilesiñ” (“Know the language — understand the soul”), as well as artistic reading of original works in video format lasting 2 minutes.
Participants actively engaged in the competitions, demonstrating respect for their native language through creativity.
During the festive event, each school prepared special performances, including:
- “Hymn of the Language” — School No. 4;
- greetings in different native languages — School No. 1;
- dances of the peoples of the world — School No. 2;
- artistic reading in the languages of different nations — School No. 3;
- performing songs in various languages — School No. 6.
Each performance highlighted the richness of linguistic diversity, cultural variety, and friendship among nations.
At the conclusion of the event, the winners of the city stage of the Republican Subject Olympiad were awarded certificates from the Kara-Kul City Education Department. The results of the online competition were also announced, and the winners received cash prizes from the city administration.
This event in Kara-Kul became an important celebration, encouraging youth to respect, preserve, and develop their native languages.
- February 21 is celebrated as International Mother Language Day. This day was proclaimed by UNESCO in 1999 and has been celebrated worldwide since 2000 to protect and preserve languages.
