As part of the celebration of International Mother Language Day, which is observed on February 21, a festival called "Sarmerden" took place at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, gathering youth with creative talents. The press service of the ministry reported on this event.
On the small stage of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, young performers demonstrated their skills: they recited proverbs, tongue twisters, riddles, showcased the art of aitys, and presented the epic "Manas".
Minister Urmatbek Shamyrkanov also attended the event.
At the end of the celebration, the minister presented commemorative gifts to the participants and delivered a congratulatory speech.
He emphasized the importance of this day, which was proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO in 1999 and has been celebrated since 2000 to support cultural diversity and multilingualism. "The future belongs to educated youth. Knowledge of the Kyrgyz language and other languages will allow us to better understand the culture of different peoples," the minister stressed.
In addition, he urged those present not to forget and to actively develop the oral folk art and cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people.
