"If we start changing everything, we will blow up the city"
At a recent meeting of the Bishkek City Council, the first deputy mayor of Bishkek, Mirlan Baigonchokov, reported on the impossibility of conducting a large-scale replacement of utility networks.
In response to questions about the need to update heating networks and water and sewage lines, the official noted that the municipality's work is limited by the city budget and available resources.
Baigonchokov added: "If we start changing everything, we will blow up the city".
As a result, repair work will be carried out in stages, according to a medium-term plan.
Nevertheless, projects for residential and commercial construction are actively being implemented in the city. This raises concerns among residents about how well the existing infrastructure can handle such loads.
