The researcher proposed a new "gold standard" for surgical treatment of prostate adenoma

In his research, N. K. Monolov evaluated various surgical techniques for the removal of prostate adenoma and concluded that laser treatment showed the best results in terms of effectiveness and safety. His work was published in the journal "Healthcare of Kyrgyzstan".

As part of a retrospective study, data from 320 patients were analyzed, who were divided into three groups depending on the chosen method of surgery:

monopolar transurethral resection of the prostate;
bipolar plasmakinetic enucleation;
holmium laser enucleation.

During the study, intraoperative indicators, the frequency of postoperative complications, and the dynamics of symptoms over 12 months were assessed. In particular, changes in the international symptom assessment scale, maximum urinary flow rate, and residual urine volume were analyzed.

The results showed that holmium laser enucleation provides:

a high effectiveness rate;
the lowest complication rate;
a reduction in the average length of hospitalization to two to three days.

Thus, the author of the study believes that holmium laser enucleation is the safest and most effective method of surgical intervention for prostate adenoma, especially in patients with an enlarged prostate volume.
