On February 19, at a meeting of the Ministry of Culture's board, the First Deputy Minister Soyuzbek Nadyrbekov announced the closure of 41 libraries in 2025 as part of the rural library reform. This decision was made to improve the efficiency of library institutions, as many of them were in poor condition and not functioning.

The total number of libraries in the country currently stands at 846, with a workforce of 3,455 people.

Nadyrbekov also noted that some libraries have undergone digitization. In particular, the National Electronic Library portal NEB.KG has been launched, where electronic resources are available in digital format.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister reported on the launch of regional websites. In the first phase, the website narynlib.kg was launched, the creation of electronic catalogs for each library has begun, and online reporting and Google Forms have been implemented.
