This project was initiated by the Agency for Community Development and Investments of the Kyrgyz Republic (ARIS) in collaboration with the Climate Finance Center under the government of the country. The main goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency in public buildings through the application of low-carbon technologies and the creation of sustainable financial mechanisms.
Among the identified obstacles are limited access to long-term financing, insufficient coordination among various agencies, and the need to enhance institutional and technical capacity.
ARIS Deputy Director Asel Mambetalieva emphasized: "Success will depend on the implementation of specific measures to improve energy efficiency and create fully renovated buildings. The system must be ready for future projects, rather than being limited to one-off investments. ARIS is accredited for direct access to GCF financing, and this project should serve as a catalyst for launching similar initiatives."
During the event, representatives from government agencies from all 40 districts of the country gathered. During group discussions, proposals were collected that will be taken into account when preparing the application to the GCF for grant funding to implement the project.
