The State Insurance Organization OJSC has launched a new voluntary insurance product called "CASCO-Extra," designed for car owners. This policy expands the capabilities of mandatory auto liability insurance (OSAGO), offering car owners additional protection.
Company representatives clarified that standard OSAGO covers the driver's liability to third parties but does not compensate for damage caused to the driver's own vehicle in the event of an accident for which they are at fault. "CASCO-Extra" was created specifically to protect against such risks.
The "CASCO-Extra" policy operates on the principle of "mirror" protection: if the driver is found at fault in an accident, the standard OSAGO policy compensates the injured party, while "CASCO-Extra" covers the damages to the policyholder's vehicle. Thus, the client receives full coverage — liability to other road participants under OSAGO and protection for their vehicle under the additional policy.
This product is available to individuals who have a valid OSAGO policy and can be issued without a prior inspection of the vehicle. The cost of "CASCO-Extra" is equal to the cost of OSAGO and is calculated based on the remaining term of the mandatory policy. The same coefficients are used, including the bonus-malus system. Prompt settlement of insurance claims and unified service are provided for both policies, with no deductible.
The insurance amount can reach up to 450,000 soms in total, while the limit for a single insurance case is up to 150,000 soms.
The policy covers damages caused to the vehicle as a result of an accident when the driver is found at fault, as well as cases of fire or explosion occurring for this reason. The product is not a replacement for classic CASCO but makes insurance more accessible, operating within the cases provided for by OSAGO.
The launch of "CASCO-Extra" was a response to numerous customer requests for additional protection for their vehicles at an affordable price.
The "CASCO-Extra" agreement is issued for a term not exceeding the duration of the OSAGO policy and automatically terminates upon the termination or expiration of the latter. The insurance premium is calculated proportionally to the remaining term of the mandatory policy.
