From April 6 to 12, 2026, Bishkek will become the arena for one of the significant sporting events in Central Asia — the championship in sports wrestling. The tournament will gather the best athletes in three disciplines: Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling. In this regard, the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, held an urgent meeting with the federation's leadership to discuss preparations for this international event.
During the discussion, attention was focused not only on the sports component but also on organizational aspects, including the preparation of sports venues, accommodation for delegations, and important issues such as media accreditation and medical support. Moldazhiyev emphasized the importance of adhering to international safety standards, stating that holding the championship is of great significance for the national prestige of the country.
As a result of the meeting, clear instructions were given to the relevant agencies and the organizing committee, with strict deadlines set for task completion. Kazybek Moldazhiyev noted that there is not enough time for preparation, and the work between government institutions and the Wrestling Federation must be as coordinated as possible. Bishkek must demonstrate a high level of event organization and confirm Kyrgyzstan's status as one of the leading countries in the world of wrestling.
