At a meeting of the Ecological Council in Bishkek, ecologist-urbanist Dmitry Pereyaslavsky called for regular publication of data on emissions from the new waste incineration plant located at the sanitary landfill near the residential area of "Altyn-Kazyk".
According to Pereyaslavsky, this plant is situated in an area that has seen active construction in recent years, and local residents are concerned about the potential release of dioxins.
“This area has become more populated, and we are observing dioxin emissions. It is necessary to know exactly how much this plant is emitting into the atmosphere,” he stated.
Pereyaslavsky also pointed out that the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic receives information about emissions only once a day, but this data is not available to the general public.
In response, the mayor of the capital, Aybek Junushaliev, announced that sensors for monitoring emissions will be installed at the plant in the near future.
The data will be available online, and we will be able to broadcast it for the residents of the city.

The ecologist also emphasized the need to preserve green spaces and shrubs in the urban environment. The mayor, in turn, noted that municipal services only remove old plants in areas where new roads are planned and where there is no dustiness.
This year, the planting of 3,500 seedlings is planned.
“We will plant shrubs where it is possible and necessary,” he added.
Furthermore, Junushaliev clarified that technical water, not drinking water, is used for watering lawns. As part of a grant project, the city authorities plan to drill another 18 wells.
To this, Pereyaslavsky countered that water from the wells could also be suitable for drinking.
