The State Duma of Russia has approved a bill that requires telecommunications operators to block services at the request of the FSB, and this decision was made during two readings. As reported by "Meduza," the FSB now has the right to block communication even in the absence of security threats in the region.

According to the new legislation, operators must "suspend the provision of communication services" at the request of the FSB, in cases defined by the regulatory acts of the President of Russia.

In the earlier version of the bill, it was mentioned that services are blocked at the "request" of the FSB to protect citizens and the state from security threats. In the updated version, the term "request" was replaced with "requirement," and references to the government and security threats were removed.
