The agency reminded that students are entitled to 30 calendar days of holidays during the academic year according to the standard. Previously, these days were distributed over three periods: autumn (about 9 days), winter (12 days), and spring (9 days), not including public holidays.
With the introduction of the new Labor Code effective January 1, 2026, two long holiday periods were established: in January (from January 1 to January 6) and in May (from May 1 to May 8). Additionally, January 7, May 5, and May 9 became official holidays. If January 10-11 or May 10-11 coincide with weekends, the winter holidays and May holidays can extend up to 12 days.
These changes also apply to educational institutions. Thus, in addition to the usual autumn, winter, and spring holidays, students will also have time off during the May holidays — from May 1 to May 10.
Based on these innovations, the following schedule was approved:
- autumn holidays — from November 5 to November 9, 2025 (five days including weekends);
- spring holidays — from March 6 to March 8 (three days including weekends).
