The most expensive Pokémon card in history.
This card, known as Pikachu Illustrator, was released in 1998 and is one of only 39 copies created for the Pokémon illustration contest.
Logan Paul put the card up for auction at Goldin, which lasted 42 days and ended on February 16. Interestingly, as the auction was nearing its end, the price remained at $6.882 million; however, new bids came in that increased the final amount to $16.492 million, including fees.
When the auction came to a close, Paul couldn't contain his emotions and exclaimed, "This is insane!" as confetti fell around him. At that moment, Sarah Casson, a representative from Guinness World Records, appeared on screen to confirm that this is the most expensive collectible card ever sold at auction.

The winner of the auction was venture investor A.J. Scaramucci, the son of the well-known financier and former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci. A.J. shared his future plans, stating that he wants to "collect the uncollectible" and plans to embark on a "planetary treasure hunt." He has already considered purchasing a fossilized Tyrannosaurus skeleton and the Declaration of Independence, and he does not intend to stop there.
