As part of the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed key reform projects and the state program for 2026, as reported by the Telegram channel "Politik Central Asia."

The President supported the initiative to tighten penalties for violence against women and children, which includes life imprisonment for pedophiles.

This initiative was proposed by Deputy Dilnoza Azizova of the lower house of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan in October 2025, after a case of violence occurred in the Namangan region, where a 38-year-old man raped his seven-year-old relative.

In neighboring Kazakhstan, authorities are also taking measures against pedophiles, introducing castration six months before their release, as well as planning lifelong monitoring of them.

In Kyrgyzstan, the possibility of reinstating the death penalty for particularly serious crimes against children and women was discussed.
