This decision was made by the Ministry of Education, which previously approved the curriculum with the holiday schedule. Unlike the usual week-long break, students will now have only three days off, including the weekend, after a challenging third quarter.
According to the May schedule, students will have a break from May 1 to May 11, after which the school year will come to an end just two weeks later.
The Ministry explained that this distribution of holidays is related to the new Labor Code, which provides for long weekends in January and May for the citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
Experts warn that the reduction of holidays may negatively affect the psycho-emotional state of children.
