The Sheraliev Children's Art School in the At-Bashinsky district has been demonstrating impressive success at the international level in recent years.

The school's choreography teacher, Aida Aitmambetova, spoke with a Turmush correspondent about her students' achievements and preparations for upcoming international competitions.

— Tell us about your recent successes.

— Recently, we participated in an international competition where we took an honorable second place with an Indian dance. This is a great pride for us. We have an invitation to Italy in March. Right now, we are consulting with parents and discussing financial matters. We also received an invitation to an international festival in Azerbaijan, which will take place in May. These competitions are organized by international organizations, and the best groups from around the world participate. For example, if 23 countries participated in the last event, the upcoming competition in India is expected to have representatives from 32 countries.

— What are the conditions for participating in such competitions?

— You can't just enter international festivals. Invitations and tickets are given only to those groups that have already won prizes. Therefore, each of our participations is the result of tremendous effort. Unfortunately, the issue of the trip to Italy remains open due to a lack of funds. But we have high hopes for the trip to Azerbaijan.

— Do you have sponsors or supporters?

— Yes, fortunately, support is emerging. In particular, the mother of our student Tunuk Bazarkulova — Gulanda eja — has volunteered to become a sponsor and sew costumes for six girls. Additionally, we hope that other caring individuals will step forward to lend a helping hand.

— What impressions do the children bring back after trips abroad?

— A child who has been abroad completely changes their worldview. Every nation has its unique culture, traditions, and dances. When children see performances from other countries firsthand, it leaves an indelible impression on them. Upon returning, they compare what they saw and say, “If we did it this way, our country would develop even faster.” The difference between a person who has traveled outside the country and one who hasn’t is indeed enormous.

— How many students are you currently working with?

— Currently, there are 36 students in the group, aged from 6 to 15 years. Upon completion of their studies, they receive a certificate of secondary vocational education (a 5-year course). To date, we have already graduated 13 groups. The greatest source of pride for me is that my former graduates return and work with me as colleagues. There is no greater happiness for a teacher.

— What moment on the international stage is the most exciting for you?

— When they announce “Kyrgyzstan” at foreign competitions, and we go on stage with the flag raised — it’s an indescribable feeling. At that moment, we are all overwhelmed with excitement. Some girls can’t even hold back their tears. It is a symbol of love for the Motherland and true pride for our people.
