According to scientists, a structure resembling a giant smiley face with a diameter of about 1.5 million kilometers has formed on the surface of the star. The "eyes" of this smiley face are two large active regions, each about ten times larger than Earth, while the "smile" is created by a prominence approximately 500 thousand kilometers long.
“Currently, the Sun represents a giant smiley face measuring 1.5 million kilometers. The two active regions serve as its eyes, and the smile is formed by the prominence. This smiley is more kind than evil, although it has a hint of skepticism,” the laboratory commented.
Astronomers also noted that at this moment, the Sun is facing Earth precisely with this "smiling" side.
