Over the three years of implementing the free hepatitis B vaccination program in Kyrgyzstan, around 192,000 adults completed the full course of three doses. This was reported by the director of the Center for the Control of Hematogenous Viral Hepatitis and HIV, Umutkan Chokmorova, in an interview with 24.kg.

According to her data, more than 312,000 people received the first dose of the vaccine, which indicates that only about 60% of them completed the entire vaccination course.

WHO Position

According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, at least three doses of the vaccine are necessary to achieve adequate protection against hepatitis B. The first dose does not provide complete immune protection, and subsequent vaccinations are required to form a protective level of antibodies.
Umutkan Chokmorova noted that in the future, it is planned to vaccinate 150,000 to 200,000 people annually, with the possibility of expanding the program as funding increases.

It should be reminded that free hepatitis B vaccination is available for adults aged 24 to 65 who have not yet been vaccinated. The vaccination is carried out in three stages and provides long-lasting protection against the virus.
