On February 12, the mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, announced the development of a new general plan for the capital, covering the period until 2050.
According to him, the final approval of the document is scheduled for 2026.
The goal of the general plan is to organize the city's development, implement modern urban planning solutions, create safe and comfortable living conditions, and improve the quality of life for its residents.
“Last year, extensive research was conducted on various aspects of the city's development, 25 meetings were organized with government agencies and specialists, and public hearings were held, with more than 500 citizens participating. As a result, 729 appeals and proposals were received,” the mayor noted.
The adoption of the new general plan will be an important step for the strategic long-term development of Bishkek over the next twenty years.
