The Jogorku Kenesh adopted a bill on gender quotas in the cabinet.
During the third reading, amendments were made to several laws aimed at improving gender equality. According to the new provisions, when appointing members of the government, the rule must be followed that no more than 70% of candidates can be of the same gender. These same conditions apply to the selection of judges for the Constitutional, Supreme, and local courts. In addition, similar requirements will be in effect when appointing mayors, akims, and during the recruitment process for public service.
It is worth noting that this bill was developed by the deputies of the VII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh.
