On February 12, an extended meeting took place at the General Prosecutor's Office, dedicated to issues of combating cybercrime and the spread of drugs among youth.
The main supervisory authority noted that various forms of internet fraud were discussed at the meeting, as well as problems related to drug use and distribution among children. In particular, the discussion included phone and messenger scams, social media account hacking, schemes promising quick profits with minimal risks, and methods of selling and using drugs via the internet.
Additionally, emphasis was placed on measures to counter cybercrime in the context of active digitalization, as well as the importance of improving cooperation between government agencies and the private sector for more effective combat against cyber threats.
The General Prosecutor's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic urges citizens to be cautious when communicating with strangers online, not to disclose personal information, passwords, and bank card details, and not to transfer their cards and information to third parties. It is recommended to avoid clicking on suspicious links and to inform relatives about the risks associated with cybercrime, as well as methods of protection against fraudsters.
If signs of fraud are detected, it is important to immediately report this to law enforcement agencies to prevent further losses.
The meeting was attended by representatives from various government agencies, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Committee for National Security, the State Penitentiary Service, the State Financial Intelligence Service, the National Bank, as well as ministries of digital development, education, culture, science, and other organizations responsible for regulating and protecting personal data.
