At a press conference organized by Sputnik Kyrgyzstan, Azamat Mambetov, the First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations, presented the results of the agency's modernization and shared plans for 2026.
Since 2020, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has invested over 3 billion soms in the purchase of about 670 units of equipment, including around 200 new fire trucks capable of storing and transporting significantly more water. In the coming months, an additional 120 engineering vehicles are expected to arrive.
“Thanks to the renewal of our fleet and the improvement of our personnel's qualifications, we have been able to save 150 more lives compared to previous years. Training our staff remains our priority,” noted the deputy minister.
Mambetov also emphasized that the agency is preparing for international certification under the auspices of the UN and plans to certify two search and rescue teams — one in the north and another in the south of Kyrgyzstan.
Additionally, he reported on ongoing negotiations to acquire two cargo-passenger helicopters from South Korea.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations already has three helicopters, including a Mi-8 equipped with a water discharge device with a capacity of up to 5 tons. It was also noted that the airfield in the village of Baytik is actively used for the rapid deployment of rescuers to the necessary regions.
The ministry plans to construct 20 new fire and rescue stations, which will significantly reduce response times to emergencies.
