Dzhunushaliev: Bishkek attracted hundreds of millions of dollars for infrastructure development

In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, an eco-technological plant for the processing of solid household waste has been opened with investments amounting to $95 million. This was reported by the city's mayor, Aibek Dzhunushaliev, at a recent board meeting. The plant is capable of processing up to 365,000 tons of waste annually, starting with 1,000 tons per day in the first phase, and generates electricity with a capacity of 30 MW, significantly improving the ecological and energy sustainability of the capital.

As part of the "Electrification of Urban Transport" program, supported by the Asian Development Bank, 120 electric buses have been delivered to the city, the modernization of bus depots has been completed, and 85 charging stations have been installed. The total cost of this project amounted to $59.55 million. In addition, under the Framework Program "Green Cities 2, Window 2," with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the "Bishkek Buses" project is underway. In its first phase, 124 gas-fueled buses were purchased, and in the second phase, planned for 2025, another 95 buses will be acquired, with a total project cost of 33 million euros.

Construction work has begun on the site of the "Ak-Kula" racetrack for a complex of buildings, with an agreement signed with the Vietnamese company LLC "RCA Living" for over $300 million. Road works and greening of the area are ongoing. A project for the modernization of the city's wastewater treatment facilities is also being developed in a public-private partnership format with the Vietnamese company, amounting to $56 million.

In 2025, the reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities will begin in Bishkek as part of the same public-private partnership, with an investment volume of $56 million.

The mayor also mentioned a project for the construction, reconstruction, and improvement of residential and commercial facilities with LLC "Invest KJ Holding," within which project documentation is being developed for the creation of facilities for the municipal enterprise "Tazalyk." Plans also include the construction of an apartment hotel and a public-business center with a budget of 2.6 billion soms.

Among the ecological initiatives, the creation of a modern nursery and greenhouse complex with a total area of 48 hectares is planned, with funding of $1 million. The project aims to provide the city annually with quality seedlings — 1,000 trees and shrubs, as well as 800,000 units of annual flower seedlings, which will contribute to the improvement of the green infrastructure and ecological sustainability of the capital.

In addition, work continues on several major investment projects, including the construction of a multifunctional complex by LLC Hyper Partners with investments exceeding $300 million.

The construction of the residential complex "Optima" is also underway, which includes the creation of a park area, a pedestrian promenade, and socially and culturally significant facilities with funding of 1.2 billion soms.

It is worth noting that today, the final meeting of the Bishkek city mayor's board took place at the "Tunguch" theater, where the results of the socio-economic development of the capital for 2025 and the tasks for 2026 were discussed under the chairmanship of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers and the President's Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev.
