A conference dedicated to autism issues will be held in Bishkek

An international conference titled "21st Century ABA: Life Skills, Individuality, Values" will take place in Bishkek on February 21. It will focus on autism spectrum disorders (ASD), modern correction methods, family support, and the development of inclusive communities.

Autism is one of the most pressing topics in medicine and education today. International studies show that the number of children with ASD is constantly increasing. This highlights the importance of early detection, social adaptation, and support for such children. In Kyrgyzstan, there is no statistics on early autism diagnosis; however, practice indicates a rise in the number of ASD diagnoses in children. The conference will serve as an important platform for exchanging opinions and experiences among all those interested in mastering modern applied behavior analysis methods and creating a supportive environment for people with autism. Special attention will be given to interdisciplinary interaction and experience sharing in the field of ABA therapy, with a focus on developing life skills, considering cultural characteristics, and the values of families.

About 50 correctional and developmental centers operate in Bishkek, working with children who have developmental delays. One of the goals of the conference is to unite the efforts of specialists from various fields to provide quality assistance to children with ASD.

The event format will include presentations, panel discussions, and discussions on current issues faced by families and professionals. The conference will be beneficial for ABA specialists, educators, doctors, speech therapists, defectologists, children's center managers, and parents—all those who work with children with developmental differences and use evidence-based approaches.

Leading specialists from both Kyrgyzstan and abroad will speak at the conference. The headliner of the event will be Darya Li-Romanova, a clinical psychologist from Hong Kong with experience in ABA therapy. Experts from Russia have also been invited.

The national expertise will be represented by professionals with significant experience working with children with special needs. The conference organizers have announced a charity campaign that will allow parents of children with ASD to participate in the event for free.

The holding of this conference emphasizes the importance of public attention to autism issues and the need for collaborative work to create an inclusive society where every person receives understanding, support, and the opportunity to realize their potential.
