Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan Strengthen Transit Potential

On February 11 in Istanbul, during the second meeting of the transport ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a meeting took place between the Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, Abdykalyk Surabekov, and his Uzbek counterpart, Ilkhom Makhkamov. This was reported in a press release from the Ministry of Transport.

During the discussion, the parties addressed important issues related to transport cooperation. In particular, they exchanged views on the project for the construction of a railway connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Both sides emphasized the need to eliminate barriers that hinder the full utilization of the transit capabilities of the countries.

The ministers also discussed issues related to cargo transportation to Pakistan through the territory of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the resolution of visa issues for Uzbek drivers.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the prompt resolution of the issues that had arisen. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and friendship.
