Ethnic Kyrgyz living in Kazakhstan may have their entry into the Kyrgyz Republic simplified
The ministry reported that consultations took place on February 3 at the presidential administration, where issues related to easing the entry and movement procedures for citizens of Kazakhstan within Kyrgyzstan were discussed. As a result, a directive was issued to prepare a draft protocol for amending government resolution No. 541 dated October 10, 2023.
Currently, the relevant agencies are working on developing measures aimed at simplifying conditions, primarily for ethnic Kyrgyz. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues its work to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of Kyrgyzstan in accordance with international norms.
It is worth noting that new rules for citizens of Kazakhstan will come into effect on September 1, 2025, allowing them to stay in Kyrgyzstan for up to 90 days within every 180 days from the date of first entry. The days of stay are cumulative and do not reset with each border crossing; a new counting period begins only after an uninterrupted absence from the country of at least 90 calendar days.
For the first 30 days of stay, registration is not required; however, if the duration exceeds this time, registration becomes mandatory.
