Life in the Regions: Teacher from Ak-Suu Nurzat Shabdanbaeva Manages to Teach, Relax Abroad, and Participate in Public Life
Nurzat talks about her achievements and plans. “For me, 2025 has been fruitful. I participated in the ‘Sanarip Mughalim’ project and, together with my husband, visited Dubai, which was the realization of my dream. Many ask how one can vacation on a teacher's salary. However, with the salary increase in April, it is quite possible. Working as a teacher, I can also afford to take a break,” she shares.
Nurzat believes that a successful teacher, who raises an educated society, is a requirement of the times. She actively participates in the life of her district, understanding that every citizen should contribute to the development of the country. At the IV Kurultai, she raised important issues concerning her region. “How do you manage to combine work, home, and community activities?” they ask her. “My husband always supports me. It is important to choose the right profession and life partner. I am happy that I love my job and have support,” she replies.
Nurzat emphasized that she consciously chose the profession of a teacher and set high goals for herself from the very first days.
“I was born in the village of Mayak in the Tyup district and in 2009, I enrolled in the budget department of the Faculty of Philology at the Issyk-Kul State University. Our group had strong students. We worked, studied, and actively participated in university life. I believe that it was then that I developed the ability to keep up with everything. We held rehearsals in the library, staged plays, and learned to perform in public. Reading the works of our classics enriched my spirit. I try to instill a love for books in my children and students, as reading children become more successful,” she noted.
Nurzat continues her education today. “After university, I worked as a teacher at Lyceum No. 12 in Bishkek, then at teacher training courses. After moving to Shapak, I became the deputy director of the school for educational work. After 12 years of teaching practice, I have convinced myself that a teacher must constantly develop. I am currently studying for a master's degree in psychology to better understand my students and raise them as prepared citizens,” she says.
For her achievements in education, Nurzat has been awarded by local authorities. She is currently raising three children.
