A Russian political scientist found himself at the airport for several days
According to Ulysmedia.kz, Russian political scientist Alexander Sobianin was unable to enter the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
Sobianin, who is the head of the Asia Development Fund, has been at Bishkek airport for a week. The reason for his detention was new migration rules for Russian citizens.
“Starting in 2025, the conditions for Russians staying in Kyrgyzstan have become stricter. After completing registration, leaving the country, re-entry becomes impossible within 90 days,” he noted.
The political scientist returned from a business trip in Kazan five days ago, but he was not sent back on the same flight, and subsequent flights also did not take him on board. Now, it seems, he will have to stay at the airport for another five days. “At my age, this is quite difficult. Kyrgyzstan is my homeland, my family and home are here. But I have no opportunity to either fly away or enter,” he shared his concerns.
