According to information, testing of voice and video call features in WhatsApp Web has already begun. Currently, they are only available in beta version and not for all users. Initially, users will be able to make calls in personal chats without installing a separate application on their PCs.
“This feature has been in development for a year, and during this time WhatsApp has significantly refined it to match the capabilities of desktop applications. In the first phase, the focus is on individual chats, allowing users to make calls without installing a desktop version. All you need to do is open a chat and press the call button,” representatives of the publication said.
Group calls through the browser are still in development.
How the new feature will work
- Launch a chat in the browser;
- click on the call button;
- make a call without the need to install additional software.
- all calls are protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring their complete confidentiality;
- in addition to voice and video calls, there will be the option to share screens;
- up to 32 people can participate in one call, and there are plans for features to create invitation links and schedule meetings.
