In Kyrgyzstan, new cases of measles were recorded in January
As the specialist pointed out, there was a decline in morbidity in 2025; however, in January of the current year, 22 new cases of measles were recorded.
According to her, 92% of those infected did not receive the vaccine or refused it, while only 8% of the infected individuals had been vaccinated. Of those vaccinated, six percent received only the first dose of the vaccine.
“After the first vaccination, which children receive in their first year of life, immunity is formed, providing protection at a level of 90%. At two years of age, a second vaccination is necessary, which increases protection to 98%. The remaining two percent who got sick after the first dose become infected due to insufficiently formed immunity,” explained Gulzada Dadanova.
The specialist emphasized that vaccination is the most reliable and effective method of protection against measles and preventing new outbreaks of the disease.
