2.5 billion soms needed to replace water supply networks in new areas of Bishkek
As Jumaliev noted, within the framework of the ATR, the enterprise has taken on the technical maintenance of 29 water intakes, 59 wells, as well as 101 kilometers of sewage and 373 kilometers of water supply networks.
“Although nothing has been officially transferred to our balance, we continue to provide technical maintenance. Since the beginning of 2024, we have received over 1,000 requests for emergency repairs in the new territories, and this is only for major incidents; there have been even more minor ones,” he added.
According to him, about 380,000 cubic meters of water pass through the central treatment facilities daily.
“We intend to increase this volume to 500,000 cubic meters and plan to construct two new treatment facilities: 'Zapad' near the village of Dacha SU and 'Vostok' in the village of Leninskoe. For this, 27 billion soms will be required,” the official emphasized.
Jumaliev also pointed out the necessity of complete technical support for sewage and water supply networks. He urged the Bishkek city hall not to pave new territories, as it is essential to first build the corresponding networks. “They should not be accepted onto the balance. We must focus on the complete modernization of water supply and sewage systems, and only then on landscaping. Since these networks are not on our balance, we cannot replace them—this should be handled by the capital construction management. The local budget needs to allocate funding for this, as well as for the installation of water meters and wells,” he explained.
According to Jumaliev, water leaks occur due to damage to plastic pipes laid using the asharny method, and the lack of meters leads to irrational use of resources.
