In this regard, the city authorities have begun actively discussing plans for its restoration.
Historical Facts About the Palace
The design of the building began in 1941 by architects V. Marukov and N. Kostin from the "Soyuzsportproject" institute, but construction was halted due to the war. It was only in 1974 that the Sports Palace opened its doors, receiving the name of V. I. Lenin. In 1993, the swimming pool was leased, but soon fell into disrepair and became hazardous. From time to time, it was used as a venue for roller skating, which caused discontent among the citizens who considered it disrespectful to sports and to Koshomkul.
As a result, the swimming pool ultimately collapsed, and now an abandoned area occupies the site.
"It is now necessary to resolve the issue of transferring the building for management, and work on the project will begin in the spring. As soon as the reconstruction plan is known, we will definitely inform about it," the Bishkek city hall reported.
