While discussing the regulation of milk prices, participants noted that the price is formed by a commission that includes both producers and representatives of government bodies. The fat content of the milk is taken into account. Differences in the purchase price can vary from 28 to 42 soms depending on the region.
“Milk prices have dropped sharply. Some families cannot even afford a spoonful of milk for their children, as all their funds go towards buying food and paying for kindergarten. We urge factories not to set different prices for the summer and winter periods, but to establish a stable price in the range of 40-45 soms. Moreover, the costs of feed are increasing, while milk prices continue to fall,” she stated.
Additionally, Nurumbetova reported that if the trend of falling prices does not stop, citizens plan to appeal to the president and the head of the State Committee for National Security.
Baktybek Tuuganbaev, head of Talas Daamy LLC, emphasized the existence of another problem in the dairy industry. He noted that in the Talas region, an average cow produces only 8 liters of milk per day, while in Russia this figure is 15 liters, and in Belarus, it is 20 liters.
“It is necessary to increase productivity. The Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture should explore ways to solve this problem. It is important to update the breeds of cows and import more productive types,” the entrepreneur added.
