Let us remind you that the traffic accident involving Efremov occurred on June 8, 2020, on the Garden Ring in Moscow, near Smolenskaya Square. The artist, driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee at high speed, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Lada Granta van, driven by 57-year-old internet shop courier Sergey Zakharov. As a result of the accident, Zakharov sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Nikolai Sklifosovsky Research Institute, but he could not be saved.

An examination revealed that the actor had alcohol in his blood. As a result of the court proceedings, he was sentenced to eight years in prison, but later the term was reduced to 7.5 years.

Additionally, the son of the deceased, Vitaly Zakharov, filed a lawsuit against Mikhail Efremov for 7 million rubles, but the court reduced this amount to 800 thousand rubles.
