In 2026, 100 million soms are planned to be allocated for the greening of the city of Osh.

This was announced by Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev, who held a meeting with residents of the Manas-Ata municipal territorial administration on February 5.

During the report on the work completed last year, he emphasized that many trees are in an emergency state due to their age.

“Some trees are very old. Our bloggers and sisters are asking: ‘Why are you cutting down trees but not planting new ones?’ We are indeed planting new trees, and they are quite expensive. But it is important to remember that a tree does not grow instantly; it takes time, just like for children. 95% of the trees we have planted have taken root,” the mayor noted.

According to him, this year, 100 million soms are being allocated from the city budget. These funds will be used for the gradual removal of old poplars, junipers, and other trees, which will then be replaced with new ones.

The mayor also added that the trees along the road to the airport are quite old as well — they are 70 to 80 years old.

“Starting from March 1, we will begin the complete removal of old trees along the road to the airport. In their place, modern and expensive roses will be planted, and the area will be updated. We will also install LED screens and a large stela to make the appearance more modern,” he explained.

According to information from the mayor's office, the greening work will be carried out in stages, taking into account environmental standards.

It was previously reported that in the municipal territorial administration of "Sulaiman-Too" in Osh, it is planned to plant expensive seedlings from Italy, which cost between 140 to 150 dollars each.

In March 2025, 100 seedlings of red-leaf maple and blue spruces were planted in Osh, with a cost ranging from 200 to 250 dollars each. However, not all of the red-leaf maple seedlings survived.
