A new financial package of $5.88 billion has been adopted in the United States to combat HIV and AIDS. This became known through information from the UN News Service.

According to UN data, of this amount, $4.6 billion will be allocated to support HIV programs under the America First Global Health strategy, $1.25 billion will go to the Global Fund, which fights AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, and $45 million will be directed to support the work of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

These American investments will provide vital assistance to millions of people around the world and maintain the high effectiveness of the global response to HIV.

“UNAIDS aims to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. For the past twenty years, U.S. funding has been the main driver of global progress, saving millions of lives and supporting countries in their fight against this epidemic,” the statement noted.

UNAIDS confirmed its readiness to use the allocated funds as effectively as possible, offering countries and communities technical assistance, data, and strategic support, as well as establishing close cooperation with the U.S. government, the Global Fund, and national partners.

It should also be noted that Kyrgyzstan and the Global Fund have signed a contract worth over $27 million for tuberculosis treatment for the years 2024-2026.
