The head of state noted that significant steps have been taken over the five-year period; however, the "Unaa" reform holds an important place among all these achievements, as it addresses vital aspects, including road safety. "The statistics on fatalities from traffic accidents are horrifying, and the number of victims exceeds the losses during the war," he emphasized.
Japarov warned: "If urgent measures are not taken, the situation will worsen every year. We need to be patient to bring this area into order. It is clear that ideal conditions will not be achieved immediately, but we will be able to improve the system over time. The fruits of the reform will only become noticeable in 50–60 years when we see the results of training new drivers and those who will start training in September."
He added that to achieve stability and reduce fatalities on the roads, strict rules should be introduced and necessary changes made.
The president also expressed regret over the closure of private driving schools."My actions are not aimed at personal gain, but at the common good. There have been cases where employees who issued licenses for bribes lost their loved ones in traffic accidents caused by drivers who bought their licenses. This should be a lesson for everyone. I recommend that you consider changing your business," Japarov concluded.
