International Experts Support Road Safety Reforms in Kyrgyzstan
Experts noted that the president's open discussion of such difficult topics with the public is a bold step that emphasizes that road safety is not just about numbers, but about people's lives.
David Meskhishvili, President of the Eurasian Vehicle Inspection Network (EVIN), emphasized the team's full support for the implementation of the Vision Zero concept in Kyrgyzstan, based on the principle that no life should be lost for the sake of mobility.
Experts are confident that the introduction of transparent digital monitoring and control systems can significantly reduce the number of road traffic accidents. They cited Georgia as an example, where the modernization of vehicle inspections and the introduction of new standards have led to a 25 percent reduction in fatalities and injuries from traffic accidents.
The international team also expressed its readiness to share its knowledge and experience with the government institutions of Kyrgyzstan to ensure the safety of citizens and the sustainable development of the transport system.
In Kyrgyzstan, by presidential decree, the licenses of all private driving schools have been suspended until August, and training will only be conducted in state institutions. Additionally, the training period has been extended to 10 months. From September 2026, it is planned to introduce driving lessons and the study of traffic rules into the school curriculum.
