At the parliamentary meeting, Deputy Medina Kairylbekova raised the issue of plans to build a school just 50 meters from a tuberculosis hospital located in Talas. She suggested relocating the hospital to a more remote area and appealed to Health Minister Kanybek Dosmambetov to pay attention to this situation.

In response to these statements, the director of the National Center for Phthisiatry, Abdullaat Kadyrov, clarified that his comments are based on years of experience and factual data.
“As a doctor with over 35 years of experience in phthisiatry, I want to emphasize that the tuberculosis hospital in Talas, like our center in Bishkek, poses no epidemiological threat to residents of the surrounding areas. This opinion is supported by many years of practice and strict protocols,” Kadyrov stated.

According to him, “this is not a random fact, but the result of strict adherence to all infection control measures that we implement on a daily basis.”
“All waste, including medical materials and food remnants, undergoes mandatory two-stage disinfection. The initial treatment is carried out in the hospital using special solutions and equipment, and then the waste is sent for secondary processing through a modern septic system. A special ventilation regime is also maintained in the premises, and air disinfection is regularly conducted. All these measures completely eliminate the possibility of infection spreading beyond the hospital,” he added.

Kadyrov also noted that the claim about the “incorrect” location of the hospital is based on outdated perceptions. “In global practice, anti-tuberculosis institutions are often located in the central parts of large cities, and this is not unusual. I am familiar with the experiences of colleagues from Europe and Central Asia, where such hospitals are situated in densely populated areas. Modern medicine, particularly phthisiatry, has long moved away from the principle of complete isolation of patients, adhering to the strategy of ‘treatment without separation from society,’ which is more humane and effective,” the director added.

Kadyrov also expressed concern that the discussion about the hospital's location reflects a deeper social problem. “The issue raised in parliament, unfortunately, is a manifestation of the stigmatization and discrimination of people suffering from tuberculosis. Calls for the ‘relocation’ of the hospital effectively mean a desire to ‘evict’ the patients themselves, to make them invisible and hide them from society. This is an outdated and harmful approach that seriously undermines the fight against tuberculosis,” he noted.

Kadyrov warned that such measures could lead to late diagnoses and the hidden spread of the disease, ultimately worsening the epidemiological situation. “The fight against tuberculosis does not begin with building fences, but with combating ignorance and prejudice,” he concluded, adding that anti-tuberculosis institutions in Kyrgyzstan are safe for the population and meet all standards.
