Famous American businessman and billionaire Elon Musk expressed the opinion that it is governments, rather than private companies, that pose the greatest threat to the safe development of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. He emphasized that authorities could use these innovations to suppress citizens.
“Probably the biggest threat associated with AI is that states may use it to control the population. This raises serious concerns,” Musk noted in a conversation with bloggers Dvarkesh Patel and John Collison.
Moreover, he stated that corporations are not as dangerous as government structures, as businesses often demonstrate higher moral standards compared to governments.
Previously, Musk has repeatedly warned about the potential threat of uncontrolled AI, comparing it to a "demon." He stressed the importance of regulation and the establishment of ethical norms to ensure that AI development remains safe and under human control.
